On August 15, we hosted our second annual “Ag Summit” event, for our agriculture customers and other guests. More than 140 people attended the event, which was held at Barnacopia in Polo.

After a catered dinner, guests heard an informative and engaging presentation by Eric Snodgrass from the Department of Atmospheric Studies at University of Illinois at Urbana Champaign. The title of his talk was “Managing Weather Risk in Agriculture.”

Mr. Snodgrass discussed progress of the 2018 growing season, learning from the past, global weather stresses, accessing reliable weather, using reliable weather data, and trends in ag weather.

An additional highlight of the evening was the presence of Highland Community College agriculture instructor Monica Pierce and seven Highland Ag students.

Ms. Pierce briefly addressed the group before the main presentation, expressing appreciation for the Bank’s ongoing financial support of the Highland Ag program, and promoting some of their upcoming events.

Guests received complimentary “Ag Summit” polo shirts as a thank-you gift from the Bank.
