SBA (Small Business Association)

Update 4-20-20 - Paycheck Protection Plan (PPP)

As of right now, the SBA is currently unable to accept new applications for the Paycheck Protection Program based on available appropriations funding. 

Paycheck Protection Plan

The Coronavirus Aid, Relief and Economic Security (CARES) Act was signed into law on March 27, 2020. The $2 trillion Coronavirus Economic Stimulus bill is aimed at providing relief for individuals and businesses that have been negatively impacted by the outbreak.

The Paycheck Protection Program (PPP) authorizes up to $349 billion in forgivable loans to small businesses to pay their employees during the COVID-19 crisis. Click here to read the SBA interim final rule.

Economic Injury Disaster Loan Emergency Advance


This loan advance will provide up to $10,000 of economic relief to businesses that are currently experiencing temporary difficulties. This advance will provide economic relief to businesses that are currently experiencing a temporary loss of revenue. Funds will be made available following a successful application. Resources for Illinois Businesses 

Illinois Small Business Emergency Loan Fund

This is a Small Business Emergency Loan Fund to offer small businesses low interest loans of up to $50,000.

Businesses located outside of the City of Chicago with fewer than 50 workers and less than $3 million in revenue in 2019 will be eligible to apply. Successful applicants will pay nothing for six months and will then begin making fixed payments at a below market interest rate for the remainder of a five-year loan term. Downstate Small Business Stabilization Program


The program component makes funds available for 60 days of verifiable working capital up to a grant ceiling of $25,000 and is available for businesses that employ 50 people or less. Click here to learn more.
