Scammers and fraudsters are constantly coming up with new ways to get ahold of your money. One way to protect yourself the best you can is by knowing what you should look out for.
Some common types of fraud and scams are charity scams, debt collection scams, debt settlement and debt relief scams, foreclosure relief or mortgage loan modification scams, grandparent scams, imposter scams, mail fraud, money transfer or mobile payment services fraud, lottery or prize scams, and the list goes on and on.
You may get unsolicited emails, text messages, and phone calls looking to trick you into action. If you don’t know the sender, don’t click. If no caller ID, let the call go to voicemail. Don't always trust the caller ID. Sometimes it’s best to take a minute to stop and think before proceeding.
